Sure do. I am really going to try and be better about it. I mean it this time.....really.

Alex is the most amazing little person....it seems as though each day is a new adventure. I cannot believe that she is almost 2...2, wow. Does not seem like that long ago we were rushing to the hospital (after I pleaded that we were not going...because I was not ready). Our newest adventure is Potty Training. Lots of fun there. The thought of public restrooms is enough to freak me out.....throw a 22 month old in the mix, and boy do you have trouble. The other day after swimming lessons, Alex had to go potty. This involved an arsenal of TP laid out perfectly so that she did not touch anything (seem a bit excessive....maybe, but we are in a gym locker room....yuck!!). Alex wanted to touch everything....I kept saying "Don't touch, stop, don't touch that". Well, i apparently said it enough to make a woman start laughing at me. Whatever.....it was quite an experience. Here is a photo of her first official poop in the potty....in the comfort of her own home :)

My hubby is still attending OSU and is finishing his engineering degree. Things are going well for him (Dean's list) and I am very proud. It takes a lot out of him to be gone so much but he still does so much for our family and I am thankful for that. Work is still going well for me....too busy but that means job security so I cannot complain. My gym/fitness routine is getting back to where it used to be....and that makes me feel better all around, mentally and physically. Hope to run another half this year and break 2 hours.

So...I will get better at this blogging thing. Now...back to work...

I am no good....

at blogging. In a nutshell, quite frankly, I really suck at it. I will try to get better...I promise. Things have been very busy at work and at home.

So what has happened since my last post.....Alex celebrated her first Christmas, New Year's and Birthday!! She is still amazing me every day. Not a day goes by that I don't sit back for a minute and think of how truly blessed I am to have such an amazing family. Since I haven't much time to write (it is 9:30pm and I am getting ready to hit the gym!!!), I will post a few picks. Again, I promise to post more often and to provide more frequent updates to what is happening.

What do I open next?????

Seriously...is it really that cold outside?

Sleeping beauty

Birthday pics coming soon....as soon as I download them from my camera!

Foot Update

An update on my broken sesamoid.....

For the past 3 weeks I have been in a hard cast and on crutches. This was after my first follow up with my doctor. Apparently the initial try at the walking boot was not working at all because there was no improvement in my foot. So he went to hard cast to completely eliminate any activity that could be done. Went back this week and had the cast removed so he could re-evaluate my foot. Still not healing the way it should. I begged to not be re-casted because I wanted to shave my legs. So I am still on crutches but I have my removable cast back on. I still can't put any weight on my foot but at least I can shave and shower like a normal person.

Back to the doc in 3 weeks to see how things are progressing. He is hoping to start my physical therapy around that time to begin rebuilding my leg muscles. My legs look hysterical side by side.......

Congratulations Troy!!!

Ahhh....another Buckeye wins the Heisman!! For those who are unaware my job position is one of an operations manager for a research center at the Ohio State University (GO BUCKS!!).
I knew this venture would be difficult (and painful at times) but I was not prepared for the amount of disconnect by my people. My office door opens 100 times each day with the same questions and I reply with the same answer, "Wait until I hold the move information session. All questions will be answered at that time." Then they turn around and say that Heather told me this and Heather told me that, while we all know damn well, I have told them nothing. Geez!!!!
I can't wait for this move to be over with....and to make it even better, we move the week before Christmas (just when everyone is in a great mood!). Come to find out....there is a bone that is broken into 2 pieces hanging out! The bone is one of my sesamoid bones (http://www.nefca.ca/find-ft-nurse/images/foot-prob/ft-anatomy6.gif). My doc said to think of them as "tiny kneecaps" for the ball of your foot.

I am in a "moon boot" for 2 weeks. Then back to the doc for more X-rays and potentially an MRI to see how it is progressing. The absolute worst case scenario is surgery to insert a pin to hold the 2 pieces together. In the meantime I get to feel like a lazy ass because I can't run, ride bike or do the elliptical machine. I can however lift weights.......I will be the freakshow at the gym walking around in a moon boot doing arm curls!!!

I hope this just heals on its own.......

My Little Bumpkin...aka Alex

I must say she is quite animated!

Adventures of Alex Part 1

Apparently, my 8 1/2 month old angel is the bully in her day care class.

One day last week all the babies were awake and playing on the floor (some can sit upright on their own and some have to be propped up in their boppy’s). Conjure up a mental image of a room full of babies all happy and content just playing and enjoying their day?

Here comes bandit Alex crawling around doing laps. And what was she doing while doing these laps….she crawled up to every baby and took their pacifier out of their mouth, dropped it on the floor and then laughed about it. She did this to each baby about 3 times and eventually all the babies were crying except her (I guess the look on her face was priceless….I can just envision her little grin). They couldn’t get her to stop so they had to put her in a swing just to get the other babies to calm down.

I apparently have a very smart yet very evil child. Work has been keeping me terribly busy and any free time I have is spent with Alex.

Alex experienced her first Halloween yesterday and was the cutest Cow this side of the Mississippi!! I need to download my pics and so I will post one in the future. She is also on the move now and has officially moved to the ranks of crawling. I never knew how fast a baby could move. I think that she will be bored with crawling soon as she is already trying to walk.

My hubby is currently enrolled in classes at The Ohio State University and is gone every night of the week therefore I am constantly left with the feeling that there is not enough time in the day for me to get things done. I have not been running as I would like to and trips to the gym are few and far between (this is something I used to do 5-6 days a week). It is hard and my body is definitely feeling the brunt of it. I am tired most days and just have a general feeling that I am not nearly as strong as I would like to be or once was. My ab muscles are shot because there is no time for the gym, this is disheartening because I worked for years to obtain my 4 pack (on some days you could see 6) flat abs and now they are non-existent. 1 month ago I could run 6 miles in just over 50 minutes...now it would probably take me an hour or more.

With time, it will get better. I think the change of the seasons and time change has not helped my situation. Once my hubby is home a little more, things will change for the better.

The whole tooth and nothing but the tooth....

...so help me God! So the first tooth is on its way into Alex's little mouth. So let it be known that she is not the happiest camper in town. A recap of my weekend is something like this.

Friday: My hubby was gone at Guard duty for the weekend. I settle down with Alex so we can enjoy some time together. She was starting to fuss so I rubbed my finger along her gums (this has seemed to work lately because I knew the teeth were coming soon). Then it happened...she bit me...and there was more there than her little gums...there was a tooth...sharp little thing, I thought it was going to pierce through my skin. This was later in the evening so I rubbed some Baby Oragel on her gums and it seemed to help...off to baby dream world she went. Then came Saturday......
Saturday: First, I want to thank god for grandparents (the kind that come to help you out when you truly need help). Those are the kind of grandparents that we are blessed with. 5 am, Alex is up and not terribly thrilled with being awake. So I fed her then she calmed down and we read some books together and played with some of her toys. It was a wonderful morning with her, lots of smiling and laughing...then the shit hit the fan. I put her down for her morning nap which never really became a nap. She was up every 15 minutes crying because her poor little gums hurt. I felt so bad for her as there is nothing I can do to help (there is only so much Baby Oragel a child can have in 24 hours). Then it got better...she calmed down, ate and then was playful again. There was some intermittent crying but nothing major. By this point she was running me ragged. I had to be entertaining her all the time. I was exhausted and in desperate need of a shower. So down she went for her afternoon nap. Everything was fine after 15 minutes...so I turned on the monitor and jumped in the shower. Big mistake.....she was up within a few minutes and the tooth was really bothering her. I tried to calm her down but nothing would work. I am running around like a crazy person in my bathrobe, dripping wet with conditioner in my hair. A little over an hour later, the grandparents arrive...thank god. I am standing there with Alex (who is screaming) in my bathrobe, now with dried up conditioner starting to form a crust in my hair. And off they go, Granny, Gramps and my little angel (who is still screaming) in her stroller for a walk. The walk put her to sleep and I was able to finish my shower. The rest of the day was the same. Lots of ups and downs but we got through it. She fell asleep in time for me to enjoy most of the Buckeyes game.
Sunday: First, we are off to a family reunion (which I did not know about until Friday at 9pm, because my Granny, in her old age, forgot to tell anyone about the function). One word to describe this event...interesting. I just wonder how I am related to some of the individuals that were present. We return from the reunion and pack up stuff to head over to Granny and Gramps for Grandparent's Day. Alex and I baked a cake (strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting....yummy) that morning just for the occasion. They were able to enjoy some time with a much happier Alex. It was a great end to an otherwise hectic weekend.
One question I have is, why all the teeth don't come in at once. Or maybe in two rounds, have half of them come in one week, then the other half can follow. It seems like a tragically slow process.....hello evolution......do you have an answer for me.
Oh and BTW, shit always hits the fan when my hubby is away. That is how my life works.

The one who....

has made fun of people for writing blogs now all the sudden has a blog all for herself. I wonder if this is some kind of cruel joke that is enabling me to stick my foot in my mouth.
This blog was created in order for me to post a comment to my mother-in-laws blog. Since I went through all the trouble of creating the account, I thought, hey why not give it a try. Since I am currently at work this is probably not the best time to write my first post. I will return soon to give you an update as to the happenings of my life. In a nutshell, first and foremost, I am a mother. I have a beautiful daughter and my life, for the most part, revolves around her. Second, I am a wife and I have (what I consider) the best husband in the world. For those who know me I am a huge pain in the ass sometimes and he loves me/tolerates me everyday. Third, I enjoy running....not for the sake of breaking any records (because lord knows I never will) but because I enjoy the fresh air and time with my family.
